“Harsh” flavor flavor in Italian wine?
So I'm close to finishing off in one sitting a bottle of Lacrima Christi del Vesuvio 2014, and it has this delicious harshness to it that really works well with the acidity to give the overall flavor depth. Anyone know what it could be? The wine guy who recommended it to me was going on about the volcanic terroir which sounded like bullshit but I haven't tasted something like this before so maybe he was onto something. Does it just mean that it is heavily tannic or…? I am still a noob so I have difficulty identifying such things.
